MOOSINGS OF A FUNKY COW! |

~ 26th November ~ I've always loved Queen, let's hope Freddie would have approved!
30th October ~ So, what kind of person are you? I reflect (probably too much) on the decisions I made in my life, the roads not taken etc etc but fundamentally, what are the nuts and bolts which fit together to make me function? Someone on one of the forums I'm on posted a link entitled 'What colour are you?' So I had a look... this is the result:
Is it me, do you think? Answers on a postcard
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 19th October ~ What is the world coming to? I sit down two weeks running with my 11 year old daughter to watch the X Factor - which you would think is a family show right? WRONG! First week we are subjected to a pop-eyed Robbie Williams who appears to be floating somewhat above the highermost branch of his tree, and then this week we witness Whitney Houston lurching about in a disintegrating dress, eyeballs freewheeling. What could I say when my daughter commented "I think she's drunk"? For goodness' sake, if neither of these two can (apparently) make a comeback clean and sober, I shudder to think what spectacle ITV will subject us to next week. Poor Cheryl Cole has taken a good deal of stick before and since her solo performance on this week's show. Whatever your opinion may be of her singing, at least her courage to do it was her own and not artificially induced! Rant over J ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 30th September ~ Well, I've decided that Funky Cow's going global! I'm going to be listing new items in my Etsy store. Buying's just as easy as through my website, you'll just pay the equivalent amount in dollars. Conversion rates can be found here ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 24th September ~ I cracked it! Really, really happy with my plunged florals J I've made some into jewellery, which will be uploaded soon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 16th September ~ I spent a glorious day at my torch yesterday. Aside from a crick in my neck (I really have to get a Creation Station!) I emerged having made a stride forward in the tricky art of plunged floral beads Last time I tried making one of these flower beads, I ended up with what looked like solidified frog's vomit! So I am rather pleased with myself, actually J What do you think? Some more practice, and I reckon they'll be ready for selling!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 12th September ~ Those of you who know me well will know of my lengthy campaign to stop the abuse of the humble apostrophe. In my teaching career, my mantra to the pupils has always been "If in doubt, leave it out!" Better a missing mark, than a foul attack of apostrophe-itis! How I wish that the tattoo artist who carried out this atrocity had been one of my former pupils.... I suppose the only consolation is that the woman in question won't have to see it very often!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 26th August ~ I apologise that the promised bead listings are behind schedule! I'm afraid the light just wasn't good enough for photographing today ~ will try again tomorrow! In the meantime, I have some more Mystery bags up for grabs (which can be reserved by emailing me if you're waiting for new beads and don't want to be clobbered for postage twice!) I have been playing with the funky effects of a tricky glass fondly called EDP - short for Evil Devitrifying Purple. It has magical qualities, but needs to be treated carefully as it frazzles very easily. I'm pleased with the results! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 23rd August ~ Stourbridge Bead Fair today, and my goodness were there some feasts for the eyes J Glassy lusciousness all around! I managed to spend far too much money buying glass rods for my beadmaking, but I guess that means I'll have to spend considerable time trying out all my new colours! Watch this little piece of cyberspace! I caught up with my teacher Ray Skene, who first introduced me to the fantastic world of lampworking. Check out his new website here ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 17th August ~ Dotties sets uploaded tonight. Just look at this fantastic little fella - can you guess where I got my inspiration for the groovy gecko colourway from?!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 12 August ~ Lots of glassy goodies uploaded tonight J Well, my darling husband and I had our 20th wedding anniversary yesterday. What I want to know is how come every year that passes seems to go quicker than the previous one? I'm almost afraid to go to sleep, I might wake up in 2056! We had a fantastic holiday, a beautiful villa tucked away in a tranquil part of central Mallorca - take a look
We all had a fabulous time - and came home totally chilled out. Our homecoming was slightly marred by the fact that one of our two suitcases ended up in Exeter airport, whilst we were in Birmingham (So, how on earth does that happen, they both went down the chute together at Palma airport?!) I guess it would have been worse if it got lost on the way out. We still haven't actually had it back, tomorrow supposedly, but then it was meant to come yesterday, then today ....yahdahyahdahyahdah! It might turn up! I do hope so, because I persuaded my son to put his favourite bed-time toy in the suitcase that went missing; he hasn't forgiven me yet, and is beginning to think he'll never see Patch again L ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 29th July ~ I'm off on holiday ~ fed up of all this blimmin rain! I just found out there's a new Simon's Cat video - take a peek
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 14th July ~ had a clearout of my bead stash last weekend. Been really poorly with a tummy bug for the last two days though ~ yuckL Just uploaded some beady grab packs on the sets page tonight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4th July ~ good grief, it's been a while since I updated! I hope that the hot weather hasn't been too draining for you all - I have to say that teaching all day in a portakabin is like a nine hour sauna!! My poor pupils are melting in the heat. As of August, I shall be back on the glass-art case like a dervish. I have collected countless ideas in my sketchbook, with - alas - no time to experiment. I have taken delivery of some fantastic new glass rods for beads, and some lush moulds for fusing. So, watch this space J ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Whilst reminiscing at work about childhood television programmes, I remembered about Ludwig. At first I thought it was some strange dream, until I found this.... so, just to prove it was REAL
